Tourism Whistler’s role in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games is to maximize the tourism opportunities associated with the Games as well as to ensure a positive visitor experience at Games time.

I have heard there is no where to live in Whistler, is that true?

The decision to make Whistler your home is usually easy however, finding a home may be the tough part. Similar to many resort towns, it can be a challenge but certainly not impossible. Finding a place to live is easier between April and September when the Resort is a little quieter.

While Tourism Whistler does not offer employee housing, we are confident that as more resident-restricted housing becomes available for purchase through the Whistler Housing Authority, the housing situation will improve. To check for current listings for available housing, see the Pique newspaper, the Whistler Question newspaper and the Whistler Housing Authority. The online classifieds site Craigslist can be helpful too, but always check to make sure the landlord is reputable and the rental property is legitimate.

Many Whistler employees decide to live in Squamish (45 minutes south) or Pemberton (25 minutes north). With the number of employees that make that commute, a carpool is easy to join; there is also frequent bus service between the two communities and Whistler.

I need sponsorship in order to secure a Canadian Working Visa, can Tourism Whistler help?

In order to move through the interview process with Tourism Whistler you need to be legally entitled to work in Canada. Tourism Whistler is not able to assist you in securing a Canadian Working Visa. To do so we would have to prove that no other Canadian would be able to fill the position and based on the nature of our organization and our applicant pool, in most situations that is difficult for us.

While we are primarily a year-round employer, we have numerous seasonal positions at the Whistler Golf Club and Central Reservations. For year-round positions, while we do not want to discourage any great candidates, ideally we would like a minimum of a one year commitment.

I want to work on the mountain(s).

Tourism Whistler is the official marketing organization for Whistler. We employ approximately 120 year round employees to ensure our success in bringing people to Whistler and generating business for our members. In the summer our employee numbers increase as we also manage the operations for the Whistler Golf Club.

If you are looking for a job that involves working on the mountain as a ski instructor, or various other positions that get you outside, you should contact Whistler Blackcomb. They are the largest employer in the Resort and manage all the operations that happen on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.
